An ethical,
human-centered AI
platform

Our vision is to realize everyone’s true potential. Our mission is to make it happen with fair and accurate talent matching.

A well-paying job is a lifeline to economic opportunity. We need a system that allows anyone, regardless of their background, to showcase their potential. Why does the system not work this way now? Because human bias has created systems that are structurally biased.

pymetrics leverages new science and audited technology to improve prediction and reduce bias. We do not remove humans from the process—we work with humans to help them make better decisions.

Ethical technology design

We believe that AI will play a critical role in shaping the world for the better, but only if it’s built to be human-centered and ethical. That's why we follow these guidelines.

#01

Make it easy for users to understand data collection

#02

Let users own, control and delete their data at any time

#03

Use largely unbiased training data

#04

Audit algorithms early and often for bias, and remove it when found

#05

Aim for full transparency and use open-source methods

#06

Advocate for, and engage in, 3rd party external auditing and guardrails

Unbiased and open sourced science

A fair future

Unbiased hiring is only possible with assessments that measure people in a fair way. Unfortunately, it is still legal to discriminate against underrepresented groups if they don’t perform as well on cognitive tests, which are known to be biased. If we want to change the makeup of the workforce, we must challenge these traditional assessment methods.

Making diversity open source

It’s not enough to help our clients build diverse teams. Diversity needs to become society’s expectation. We lead by example and give everyone open source access to our de-biasing tool called AuditAI. It uses an expansive reference set of data to highlight any gender and ethnic bias.

User centered design

Support for neurodiversity

Our mission is to make hiring more fair, and that includes for people who need accessibility accommodations. We provide varying versions of our assessments to meet the needs of users with disabilities, and we are always working to expand our range of accommodated conditions. As we develop modified assessments, we conduct rigorous tests to ensure they result in equitable outcomes.

Candidate & client
advisory council

We involve the people who will be affected by our technology in our design process. This is why we started a Candidate Advisory Council, allowing candidates to beta test and provide feedback throughout our product development. We also have a Product Advisory Council for our clients to do the same.

The standards we follow

UGESP

Each step of the pymetrics process has been implemented in compliance with the Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures (UGESP). This includes job analysis, criterion-related validation (concurrent validity and predictive validity), reliability, and fairness.

EEOC

While the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) does not rubber-stamp assessment products as compliant or non-compliant with its guidelines, each step of the pymetrics process was designed with UGESP in mind and is implemented using methods that adhere to these regulations.

ADEA

pymetrics games are designed in a way that ensures compliance with the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA).

ADA

pymetrics currently offers accommodations for color-blindness, learning disabilities and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). We are also actively working on widening the range of accommodated disabilities.

Data Security

pymetrics is ISO27001 and Privacy Shield certified. Data are stored in physically secured, geographically distributed data centers. End-to-end encryption protects data in transit, while data is encrypted at rest using Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 approved cryptographic algorithms and is consistent with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-57 recommendations.

Privacy

pymetrics values the trust that our customers and users place in us when they provide us access to personally-identifiable information. Accordingly, we have created a Privacy Policy to outline our collection, use, and sharing of information users provide to us when they access or use pymetrics’ services and platform: https://www.pymetrics.com/privacy-policy/

GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new comprehensive data protection law that updates existing European Union laws to strengthen the protection of “personal data” of EU residents. pymetrics welcomes the GDPR as an opportunity to deepen our commitment to privacy and data protection. We are also dedicated to helping our customers comply with the GDPR.
